From Sarah - (US):

Our 10-day stay at “Apartamentos-Andalucia” was the highlight of our 10-week vacation.  We have never stayed anywhere we have enjoyed as thoroughly as our time here in La Joya.  Heino’s hospitality and warmth are unsurpassed!  We spent many charming afternoons by the pool and many warm evenings visiting in the bodega.  Also, we loved walking the hills, hiking “El Torcal”, and swimming in “El Chorro”.  We found the people of La Joya more welcoming and friendly than anywhere we have travelled!  May everyone have as magical a stay as we have enjoyed.

From Tom - (US):

Heino’s dream is magic for those that stay in Apartamentos Andalucia.  Our rooms were finished with utmost care combining comfort with authentic Andalusian farmhouse ambience.  We enjoyed the patio with our family and also with Heino and his friends.  The Bodega is a most inviting social-fiesta place.  I was lucky to have my birthday party with many of Heino’s friends – who became my friends.  La Joya, its people, its mountains hikes and sunset walks – and “Apartamentos-Andalucia” – is the best place I have travelled in my many, many adventures.

From Camille (aged 12) - (US):

This place is great.  There are places that you can get to easily, like mountains, lakes and the pool is great!  It’s in the ideal place if you don’t like the bustle of the city, but want to visit them.  Thank you for the great experience.

From Caroline - (UK): (28.07.2001)

I had a brill time here, lovely and relaxing, saw some beautiful scenery which I can think about during the winter months.  The apartment was great (lovely and cool).  Thank you Heino for our lovely stay.

From Kevin - (UK):

We’ve had a fabulous time – our one week was nowhere near enough.  The people in La Joya have been wonderful friendly, while Antequera is a beautiful town, and the scenery is spectacular – El Torcal is a must.  As for the apartment, fantastic!  the perfect blend of authenticity and modern convenience.  And as a real bonus we feel we’re made a real friend in Heino – excellent company, great entertainment!   Thank you, we’ll be back!

From Kirsten (aged 7) - (UK):

This place is brill!  I loved the restaurants, the place we stayed, the mountains and the pool.  Don’t forget the “Feria”.

From Laurien (aged 9) - (UK):

This place is the best, it is even better than the Greece holiday - and that was top!  I hope that other people have or will like it just the same.  I saw some lovely scenery, we even saw some mountain goats and mummy took a photo and we saw a praying Mathis.

From Chris, Avni and Brooke – (UK):

Thank you so much for making us feel welcome in your beautiful Cortijo.  We really have had a wonderful time and have had the added benefit of meeting two such warm and friendly people in Charri and Pepé.  We will be in touch soon.

From Jan and Geoff  (UK)

The apartment is excellent and the patio beautiful.  Fantastic scenery at El Torcal and the Chorro Lakes.  Antequera is a lovely placed.  Thank you to Chari and Pepe for being so friendly and helpful.

From Karen and John – (Ital.):

Gorgeous location.
Romantically charming.
Enchanting, excitingly beautiful and extremely hot.
Awesomely more’ish.
Tranquil and relaxing
Thanks for helping to make our holiday a most enjoyable experience.   Special thanks to Charri and Pepe for their very warm and kind welcome and to everyone concerned for the excellent all-round organisation of the operation.   Hope to be back soon !

From Saida and Juergen – (Ger.):

1st step of our Honeymoon

(Saida and Juergen where due to arrive in the afternoon but arrived late in Malaga and got lost in the night on the way to the cortijo and arrived after 12 o’clock midnight)

From Sally and Peter (UK)

We have enjoyed a wonderful week in this charming Spanish accommodation.  The scenery around here is fantastic!  We look forward to returning.
Thank you.

!Queremos volver!
Gracias X Todo (de los 1os  inquilinos españoles)

From the Goodbody Family (IRL)

Wonderful week, will recommend !

From Therese, Noel and David  (IRL)

You will probably never know what this break has meant to us!  Your hospitality and Tony’s kindness will stay with us for a long, long-time.  The place is great, I really loved the attention to detail i.e. corkscrews, hairdryer etc. and of course the nights around the Bodega were a taste of paradise.  We will be back, we hope sooner rather then later (with our new addition).
We wish you all the best.

From Julius, Markus und Elisabeth (Oesterreich)

From Charlie and David (UK)

Have had the most incredibly relaxing week, La Joya & the surrounding parks are fantastic.  When we return next year (with carefully selected friends who we dare share this beautiful haven), we will surely account more interestingly the details from our memories, of the best time ever, which we will remember fondly until we return.  Thanking you for this pleasurable experience.

From Denis and Ann (IRL)

We were here 11.09.2001 and also 11.09.2002 and this is the place to be in troubled times.  It is not just good, it is very good.

From Miriam and Amos (Israel)

We have been to some rural houses before so we can appreciate better this lovely place you run here.  We did not have the chance to meet Heino, but we are sure your spirit, together with Chari’s , make this place so pleasant and welcoming, a place to come back to sometime in the future.

From Jimmy and Ann (IRL)

Our stay in “Cortijo La Joya” has been delightful.  Pepe & Chari were very helpful.  The long staying guests Brian and Ann were also very friendly.  The gardener deserves great praise, as the whole place was a blaze of colour.  We hope to return again sometimes.

From Patrick and Emer (UK)

We have really enjoyed our stay at the Cortijo.  We came here to buy our Dream Home in the sun and we were successful.  We have met some lovely people and we intend to keep in touch with them all when we move to Andalucia in early 2003.  We can thoroughly recommend Cortijo La Joya as a superb place to stay.

From Brian and Anne (UK - Hongkong)

A great friendly easy going Cortijo which has been our home from home whilst searching for our own 'Casa', 'Finca', 'Cortijo'.  We now move into our 'Casa' with great memories, lots of new 'amigos' and a love of Andalucia.  A stop here is a must on the checklist for any prospective 'Casa' hunters.  Much love and many thanks to Heino and Iris and CLANN SLAN..

From Pam and Tim (UK)

Any chance of "stealing" Chari and Pepe to sort out our English project so we can return to complete our Spanish project?  Just how many plots of land / fincas / flats / cortijos etc. are there?  To Pepe and Chari - "Muchas gracias".

From Catherine, Nick and Family (Wales)

We've had a fabulous time at the Cortijo La Joya.  We feel that we've really found the real Spain and had a wonderful time.  We look forward to returning very soon.

Deutscher Erfindergeist,
Irische Abenteuerlust,
Spanishes Feuer -
das ist Cortijo La Joya.
Wenn Andalusien............. dann hier !

From Finten, Deirdre and David (Ireland)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Cortijo La Joya and return to Ireland more relaxed than we felt in months.  Top marks for the shutters in the bedroom, ideal keeping an active toddler in bed in the mornings.  And for the Bodega, where the homely atmosphere and smoking haze (!) made for wonderfully relaxed evenings.  David (2 1/2) has loved every minute from opening and closing the shutters to chopping blocks, making fire to getting beer from the fridge - all habits it will take us months to get him out off.  Congratulation on creating a wonderful oasis in such beautiful surroundings and continued success with it.  Thanks to Heino, Iris, Fred and Michaela for great memories of April 2003.

From Pauline and Keith (UK)

A great place to base ourselves whilst looking for our own piece of Spain. Cortijo La Joya has provided and beautiful and comfortable base, at the centre of a perfect piece of heaven. It is ideal as it is at the centre of everything – the coast, Granada, Seville and Cordoba. And Antequera – what can I say – the perfect local town which has everything. La Joya itself is the perfect country village with all of the country activities. The locals are all so very friendly, even if all we say is ‘Hola’ and ‘Buenas Dias’. I’m sure they look on us as the Mad English, but we’ve enjoyed it. We even had the pleasure of the local Feria – a weekend not to be missed, but easy not to remember (drink is plentiful and cheap). What can I say about the semi-permanent residents of Cortijo La Joy. Heino adores his computer and has a beautiful place here – I envy that of him. Ingo is an angel (a large one) who will do anything for anyone. They will make our memories vivid and precious.  Trim was the first dog here and gradually accepted it as home. He hated the swimming pool – gradually accepted the washes on hot days under the hosepipe, and loved Ingo for the pieces of sausage (although he wasn’t too sure about the prawns!)  Thank you Heino for allowing us to stay with our deaf (!), blind (!) and generally in the way dog. It made our stay more pleasurable.  Lastly, we had made many friends of the guest who have stayed here – friends who are staying in touch and will come to visit us in our new home.

 From Geraldine and Joe (Ireland)

Wonderfully relaxing, just what the doctor ordered. Thanks.

From Gareth (Ireland)

La Joya is a wonderful place to wander thru’ Andalucia at your own pace – for city slickers it is an ideal location to unwind and ponder life’s little mysteries. The most obvious is what the hell one is doing in the city!!  But understand this quickly and then relax and enjoy.

From Marlene and Peter (UK,)

We have had a very relaxing time here, the weather hasn’t been too good, but we have still enjoyed our time here. Many thanks to Ingo for his excellent company and advice – we have met a true friend and have made him an honorary ‘Yorkshireman’. We have also met some very nice guests, as we did on our last visit in January 2003. We are very disappointed we did not meet Heino, but one day perhaps

From Gerard (Ireland)

One week rest before the New Year and a very pleasant one.... Thank you for showing me part of Spain I had not seen before, but always knew existed – the people, culture, landscape, music and, of course, the food 0 the ‘Real Spain’ (to hell with the Costa)! Looking forward to my next visit. Many thanks again.

From Pearse and Mary (Ireland)

Most days were sunny and we really had a wonderful time traveling around the country. We prefer the mountains to the coast. It has been a great pleasure living here and meeting Heino, Iris, Ingo, Herman, Mercedes and her husband. When Pearse got an asthma attack, the neighbours phoned for an ambulance and he was taken to the Urgencia in Antequera.  I can’t thank them enough and the hospital was wonderful and absolutely free of charge. We became great friends with Linn, who was so kind and helpful to us and Heino has a ‘gem’ in her and also Loli, with her pleasant smile. We loved the little church round the corner and had champagne and cake with the people after Mass on 6th January, Feast of the Epiphany. They have been very friendly to us. When we arrived in La Joya, the villagers seems to ignore us, but when we said ‘Ola’ to them, they smiled and said ‘Ola’ back and were very helpful to us. We could have had great conversations, if we knew more Spanish. We are going to take the language seriously from now on. Thank you Heino for translating my letter into German. You asked for criticism, if we had any. Well, I’m very sorry, having racked my brains, I have one. We will come back to see the finished Cortijo and have great photos of the men at working tiling the roof, etc. Thank you for a great experience.

From Jane, (UK)

We have again enjoyed our stay here in the Cortijo. Heino is a very warm and generous host, who wants his guests to enjoy their stay and does all he can to achieve this. The Cortijo is ideally situated for visiting the area and one easily reach Cordoba,  Grenada, Seville, Ronda and the coast. Tranquil and peaceful, enabling one to recharge batteries. Look forward to a return visit.

 From Javier Moran Lobo (España)

From Sean and Therese (Ireland)

Thank you Heino and Linn for a most enjoyable stay at La Joya. Even if we did not have the wonderful weather, we would have had a lovely holiday based on the facilities here. A great deal of care and attention has been put into making the Cortijo a great and relaxing place to stay. This, along with the marvelous scenery all round, make it a very special place to stay. We hope to return soon.

From Tyler (Canada)

I’ve had an amazing and productive time here at the Cortijo. For late fall, the weather’s been incredible – I was still risking the pool in mid-October. Very quiet and peaceful at this time of year – a good time to come for solitude and chilling out. Hopefully I’ll be able to work La Joya into a story one day. Heino and Linn have been delightful hosts. I’ll definitely be back to try out the Jacuzzi when it’s installed.

From Sally and Martin (UK.)

What a wonderful welcome. Village peaceful, El Torcal stunning, bodega good fun and v. cosy. Our room was enchanting, the evenings with a lovely fire were great. Thank you Heino and Linn, we’ll be back some time.

From Mauna and Roger (UK)

Stunning location, challenging roads, great weather (despite the wind). We had an interesting Christmas and New Year away from home and were well looked after by Linn, Loli and Maria. Also thanks to Dave, who had to deal with a leaking pipe and little problems with the central heating. I suggest putting a timer on the boiler (although I will miss the noise when I go home). Hope to be back again.

from John and Aldona (Poland)

After 3 months, from 10 November to our departure, we have enjoyed the varied and different experience of living in the mountains and villages of Antequera. The memory of Cortijo La Joya will be of a sunny winter, filled with the music of the sound of goat bells. We will never forget the scent of the orange and lemon trees and the sight of pink almond blossom trees. Thanks to Heino and Linn for making our stay very comfortable

From Liz (UK, and all over the world,

I feel as though I’m leaving home! It’s been a delight to stay here for 3½ months – such a warm welcome in winter. The Cortijo has been wonderfully adapted – with Andalucian crafts and coffee machines. Although I’m only moving to Antequera, I shall miss this little piece of heaven – the friendly villagers, the stunning countryside and of course the goats’ bells. Thank you Heino and Linn for a most memorable stay and thanks to Maria, Loli and Marie for taking care of me. Thanks to Dave for his ‘troubleshooting’, whistling and free-range eggs!

From Jean and David (UK,)

Muchas gracias por todo. Es muy ‘Joya’. Volveremos lo mas pronto possible.

From Becky, Hayley and Janet  (UK.)

Had a wonderful time here in La Joya. Much fun had by all.

From Andy (UK,)

Had a great time here – really enjoyed it. Great apartment.

From Shirley and Peter (UK,)

Really lovely here. Heino, you lucky man. Apartments are a joy. Hope to visit again.

From Don and Riina (Lituania,)

It will be difficult to find a more friendly place to stay. Heino has put a lot of his heart into this place and he treats his visitors so warmly that we really feel as we are special. And he speaks English (!) and has a sense of humour. All this together with Spanish hilly landscape is all you can wish from a nice holiday

From Di and Barry (UK, March 2005)

A real home from home. Everything you need is in the apartment. Had a hectic and enjoyable week with lots of visits out and a memorable walk through El Torcal. The weather was kind – only raining on our day home. Thanks for everything Heino – I’m sure we will return.

From Terry & Audrey (UK,)

The two months have gone by so quickly, it seems we have only just arrived.  ...the friendliness of the Cortijo has made the stay here very enjoyable. Linn, Heino, thanks for help and kindness.
